My Favorite Love Notions Patterns to Sew with Ponte

The new Love Notions Aurora Dress has been released today and it’s a new wardrobe staple for me. It was created with the flavor of their Trendy Tunic but is a more updated take on it. It’s on sale all week. You can get an additional 10% off with my NICOLE10 Love Notion’s coupon code for this pattern or any of the patterns I link to in my blog today or any other time you are shopping.

For this floral version, I used the Raspberry Creek Fabrics Sage Olive Deep Mauve Mustard and Cream Ditsy Floral Print Ponte De Roma Knit Fabric. This is something that’s not too fancy for me to wear to work, but definitely elevates my style.

I also wanted to try a version in a solid color to show off all the fun pocket and front details. For this Aurora Dress, I used Surge Fabrics Dusty Chambray Viscose Nylon Ponte.

You may be wondering what fabrics would you make this with new pattern. I’m just as excited as everyone else to see all the photos and what fabrics work well. I chose to use Ponte fabric, which is a stable knit that I really enjoy sewing with, especially with Love Notions patterns. Raspberry Creek Fabrics has a really great guide to different types of fabrics that I refer to often. Here is what they say about their Ponte:

What other patterns are great for Ponte? Please don’t tell the woven version, but the knit version of the Duet Trousers is my very favorite. I love to make it in Ponte. This is the Navy Blue Ponte De Roma fabric from Raspberry Creek Fabrics. It is 14 – 15 oz. and is a really great weight to sew with.

Another Ponte fabric that I love for Duet Trousers is somewhat unique. It’s Ponte Twill. It looks like Twill but has stretch similar to Ponte. I purchased this at Surge Fabrics and it is the Mocha color. They still have this color stocked. I have another color stashed to make the Due Trousers, again.

I have many beautiful dresses that I made, but this is my favorite by far. I made this Olympia dress to look like a navy dress that I wore often my Senior year of college. It made the rounds for award ceremonies and I think I wore it for graduation day. So many happy memories were made in that dress. I realized the Olympia looked almost exactly like that dress, so I made this in Navy Ponte from Raspberry Creek Fabrics. It makes me think of a time when possibilities for the future were endless.

My cherished friends at Raspberry Creek Fabrics let me pick a Ponte one Spring to promote and I just love this beautiful Ponte floral. It’s still in the shop, if you love it, too.

And you can’t talk about beautiful Love Notions dress patterns without mentioning the Tessa Sheath Dress. This was one of the first dresses that I made myself and it was in a gorgeous teal green for a Christmas Party for my husband’s work. I don’t even remember the source and didn’t take photos of my makes back then. But I think this looks sophisticated in the black Ponte De Roma knit from Raspberry Creek Fabrics. This pattern is good in so many fabrics, though. I’ve used stretch velvet with great success and my daughter even requested Raspberry Creek Fabrics sweatshirt fleece and it was amazing.

I think Ponte suits the Terra Tunic pattern so well. Terra Tunic is one of my favorite top patterns. It in tri-blend with Resolution Bottoms cropped leggings is my reliable traveling outfit. But I love it in this lovely Ponte floral for work. It’s always so cold where I work for some reason and this Ponte is just right.

I also made this Dusty Blue one from Raspberry Creek Fabrics. I haven’t seen that color in stock for a while, but I sure do love it.

I really appreciate you taking the time to visit and read about my new Aurora Dresses and other Love Notions patterns I’ve made in Ponte. If you’d like to purchase the pattern, it’s on sale all week. You can get an additional 10% off with my NICOLE10 Love Notion’s coupon code for this pattern or any of the patterns I link to in my blog today or any other time you are shopping.
