Love Notions Patterns for Your Summer Vacation

This week has been so fun! I love the Love Notions sales so much. You might have noticed that I’m no longer a moderator in the Love Notions Facebook Group. But I still get a lot of joy and inspiration by seeing everyone’s makes. The first day of the sale, I ordered fabric from Raspberry Creek Fabrics for a new Lyric top, another Caprice skirt, and Melody Dolman. I haven’t placed a second order yet, but I’m continuing to save all the amazing makes that inspire me to try to duplicate them for me.

You may have seen in one of my social media posts, that we will be taking our first cruise later in the summer. We are sailing to the Caribbean and I’m thinking a lot about what I need to pack. This sale gave me a big jump on sewing for my trip. I am waiting for my teen daughter to have some requests, so it’s best to get my sews completed. I’ll start the sharing off with my new Caprice Skirt in View B pictured above. I made it using Air Flow fabric from Raspberry Creek Fabrics. I love this woven and used it for my Tinley Shorts, last year. I also made a Lenox that is somewhere between the cropped and full length. It’s great for wearing high waisted bottoms. You can get an extra 10% off this and patterns and classes with my NICK10 coupon code any time, not just during the sale.

As long as we are talking about Air Flow fabric and Tinley shorts, I need to share this pair of Tinley shorts with a mash that I made of the Saltwhistle and Cadence tops. They are two of my top favorite patterns and I really love them together. I’ve been wearing this top to work already. I love it in this Navy Swiss Dot fabric. I’m excited to wear these shorts again now that the weather is getting warmer. I love this ditsy floral Air Flow woven fabric and it washes up so well and needs no ironing.

And since we are talking about the Tinley shorts pattern, I made a new pair in Board Short fabric. I’ll share with you next my first adventure with Board Short fabric sewing, but it got me thinking that this is just a fast drying woven that I could use quite a bit. So, I sewed up these to wear over my swim suit this summer. I really love them. I shared this Arlington Sweater that I added a crew neck to a few years ago, but I didn’t think it suited me. My daughter said she really liked it, so that gave me confidence to start wearing it. It’s just made from a simple solid white double brushed poly spandex.

Here is my Clef Coat in Board Short fabric. I was trying to emulate a wind breaker jacket, which was popular when I was a little girl in the eighties. This will definitely go on my cruise with me. I was thinking more for walks by Lake Michigan when we go visit Traverse City, when I made this. But I’ll be wearing this so much more.

I have a lot of Summer Basics tanks that I love. This is a new outfit I made for the sale with the Ravinia skirt in cotton spandex jersey knit. I have made a couple other Ravinia skirts that I love wearing to work in the summer, but they are made of double brushed poly. It’s great to see it works well in cotton spandex jersey knit, too.

This is a longer Ravinia skirt with an actual cropped Lenox top. This is okay for work with a cardigan but I prefer the first Lenox that I shared and lengthened, so I don’t have to worry about it riding up. This is in a really beautiful solid lavender rib knit that I got at Raspberry Creek Fabrics. I think the stretchiness made it not seem so cropped. I didn’t have enough for short sleeves so I made cap sleeves. It’s hard to see but I switched the direction of the rib from the side and middle panels and I liked that look a lot. The skirt is a really beautiful floral print from my friend Ana at Moshito Design. The print is intended for fall, but I wear it in the summer mostly.

One of my favorite patterns for summer is the Terra Tunic. I lengthened it for a beach cover up a couple years back. My wonderful daughter took this photo. I really loved it with the hood and in French Terry. It was perfect for my beach vacation. I love the ocean, so we spend the entire day outdoors when we are there. You might notice this is the same print as my Summer Basics tank above in a different color. I really could not pick between the coral and blue so I bought both for different purposes.

Here is another new make that I made for the sale. I loved that coverup so much, that I though the lengthened Terra Tunic would make a great summer dress in cotton spandex jersey knit. This ditsy daisy floral showed up in the Raspberry Creek Fabrics summer collection and I couldn’t resist it. The print is on sale through next week for it’s new release. I wasn’t sure if this dress would have enough shaping, but I love it and need a few more for summer for sure.

I have lost count of the number of times that I have made the Sunday Romper pattern for both me and my daughter. I love it both as a dress and romper. I have always made it in cotton spandex jersey knit, which works really well. I made one last October for our Disney World trip in double brushed poly and now I love that. I have a fancy slacks one in a modal that is sleeveless that’s fun to wear out with my girlfriends. It’s a great pattern and is perfect to throw on for an evening out or the weekend.

If I had to pick my all time fabric make, it’s this Saltwhistle dress in stretch crepe my friend Ana at Moshito Design has at Raspberry Creek Fabrics. The stretch crepe doesn’t wrinkle and I love the drape and fit of this. It’s definitely going on our cruise because I love it so much.

I also must mention the Summer Caye shorts. They were my favorite until the Tinley shorts were released. I like them in medium weight stretch linen. I get that a lot from Raspberry Creek Fabrics to make slacks and then I have enough left for these shorts. I’m also wearing my Harmony blouse which you definitely need even if you have the Cadence top. It has a different fit and I can’t choose which I love more. I also like to swap the armscye and Cadence long sleeve sleeve to make a winter Harmony.

Another top that is going in my suitcase for sure is this sleeveless Juliet top. I got to test the Juliet last year and it’s one of my favorite top patterns I made Star Wars fabric one for our Disney trip that I adore. But I’m not sure that will make the cut. The fabric print is also by my friend Ana from Moshito Design. It’s called Olea Leaves and the color is deep ocean. I’m not sure what an olea leaf is, so I’m going to need to Google that after I finish writing this blog.

I’ll leave you with this photo of my Caprice skirt. I just had some solid black Air Flow fabric arrive today from Raspberry Creek Fabrics for another. There is an employee resource group at my work for disabled employees and caregivers of disabled individuals. I really love working at the information booths that we have, which might seems strange given I can’t hear. But I lip read well, and I enjoy that so much since I’m an extrovert. I plan to wear my t-shirt for the group with my Caprice skirt for our booth next week.

If you shop the sale, I’d be so grateful if you used my NICK10 coupon code for an extra 10% off patterns and classes including the Caprice and Crescendo which are excluded from the sale. Also, if you are on Instagram, I’ve love to connect with you at my page @sewhardofhearing. I’ve been on there more since I’m no longer a Facebook moderator. If you interact with my content, I will follow you back and connect with you on your content or you can of course direct message me. I also have a Facebook page that I’d love if you’d friend me. I post monthly updates about sewing and what is going on in my life. Since that page is private, that’s the only place I post much personal information. I’d love to be your Facebook friend.

Finally, I wanted to share these beautiful daisy earrings my sweet friend Jestina made for me at Delta Rise Co. jewelry. All her jewelry is a work of art. Daisies are my favorite flower, so she sent me several pairs for Spring. And I was so excited they matched this ditsy daisy print. Jestina gave me the NICOLE20 coupon code for me and any friends that I’d like to share it with. It gives 20% off entire shop. I found her when I bought my daughter some very realistic succulent earrings and I’m amazed at how her flowers look so real. I don’t get commission like from my affiliate links, but I just wanted to share with you about my creative friend who is very special to me.
