Love Notions Fraser Cardigan in Knit Fabrics

Stretch French Terry from Raspberry Creek Fabrics I was so excited when I heard about the new Love Notions Fraser Cardigan. I love Cocoon style cardigans but have a challenging time finding one with a good fit that doesn’t just hang on me. I knew I could count on Love Notions for that. It’s on sale this week for the release. I would be really grateful if you use my coupon code NICOLE10 for an additional 10% off.

Stretch French Terry from Raspberry Creek Fabrics – Side View I didn’t make any with the hood but you can add one. I did cuffs with all ours, but you can leave those off and just hem the sleeve. The pockets are also optional, but as you can see Elise loves these ample pockets. I used several different fabrics but this four way stretch black french terry from Raspberry Creek Fabrics is my very favorite. I love the structured look it gives and plan to make myself one, when I replenish our stash of this color fabric.

Stretch French Terry from Raspberry Creek Fabrics – Back View It has a seam on the back, which helps with the shaping. I was really impressed how this has such a flattering fit for a cocoon type cardigan.
Elise is wearing this with her favorite La Bella Donna top. This was supposed to be a Raspberry Creek Fabrics Halloween print in double brushed poly, but she still wears these moons weekly.

Rainbow Animal Print Hacci Sweater Knit from Mily Mae Fabrics The Hacci Sweater Knit fabric was probably the most disappointing for us. I don’t think it has enough structure. I may remove the bands and add some Pellon SK135 sheer knit fusible interfacing to give them a bit of structure. I recently tried several knit interfacing types, because the type I had seemed to get all wrinkled when I washed it. This is my very favorite right now.
I think the other issue was it was around 26 degrees Fahrenheit when we took the pictures. This is rather thin fabric. I think we may find a new appreciation for these come Spring.
I was going to make us new tops to match. My cream La Bella Donna top and Elise’s lavender Classic Tee matched. I may make us some Luna or Summer Basics tanks to wear in the early summer with this.

Brushed Cashmere Rib Knit in Peach from Mily Mae This sweater is Elise’s favorite and I must say that I’m quite fond of it, too. It is Brushed Cashmere Rib from Mily Mae fabrics. This is still in stock and I’m temped to get some more. Elise likes the color and how “fuzzy” it is.
She is wearing it with the Rockford Ragland. This is View B, which is a relaxed fit. I almost always make View D. View B was perfect for her in the fall, but now she’s stretching out so much that she has less of an affinity for loose fitting tops.

Brioche Stitches in Navy Blue Sweater Knit from Boho Fabrics I’m most conflicted about the Brioche Stitches Sweater Knit from Boho Fabrics. This is very thin and almost like a lace, but it is really cozy to wear. This fabric was a bit challenging to work with. I made this cardigan first and this probably wasn’t the smartest choice for a first time make. I put the bottom band together wrong side out, because I couldn’t easily discern right side from wrong side. It was nearly impossible to rip the stitches out. It is delicate and developed a small hole at first washing. But I really do love the look of it and could see this one getting a lot of wear especially to work in the summer time.
I wore this with my Classic Tee mashed with the Arlington Puff Sleeve. Stay tuned to the Love Notions blog if you would like to learn how to make your own.

I hope that you got a few ideas for your Fraser Cardigan. The stretch french terry was my favorite but they all will serve their purpose for different situations.
I cannot wait to see what everyone will post in the Love Notions Pattern Support Facebook group. I am also not done using all the fabrics that I have to make Fraser Cardigans with, so I’d love for you to visit my Instagram to see my new makes.
