Love Notions Juliet – Three Yoke Styles

Love Notion’s newest pattern, the Juliet top, was just released today. It’s on sale through Tuesday, June 5th. You can get an extra 10% off with my NIC10 coupon code.
I’m not kidding when I say they are like potato chips, you can’t just have one. I’ve made three and am working on my fourth and some other testers have made many, many more. And how could you not love this pattern? It has several options to get multiple looks. There are four sleeve lengths, a full bust adjustment piece, and three types of decorative yokes. I made all three yokes and I wanted to share a bit with you about each of them.

My favorite yoke is the faux placket yoke. It takes little effort with a big impact. I collect antique buttons. So, any opportunity to dip into my button stash is something I love.

I made all my Juliet tops in double brushed poly, but they are all slightly different. This is a Raspberry Creek Fabric print designed by my extremely talend friend with Moshito Designs. She has so many designs and all are just as beautiful as this Olea Leaves print. I’m a size large with a full bust piece and easily fit this on one yard. That makes me so happy, because it’s a great pattern for some of the more expensive custom prints.

I am also wearing this with my white ponte Duet Trousers. These are a personal favorite. I’m still wearing them, even though they are now a bit big. They match so many tops of mine!

The next yoke style is really gorgeous! It’s the pintuck yoke. I haven’t done pintucks, since my daughter was very small and I was first sewing. I was super confused, but then Tami of Love Notions created a small video that demystified the entire process. This is included as a resource to you with the pattern. I also have to point out how inclusive and accessible Tami and her team are. There was only a handful of testers, but she ensured it was captioned, since I’m deaf. I’ve had to stop testing for some companies, because they continually add small videos and won’t write a short blurb to explain. I cannot think of one example of Love Notions content that was not accessible to me.

The fabric is so pretty! It’s double brushed poly from Surge Fabric Shop. It is so reasonably priced that I bought a bunch of solids for pattern testing. Well, the solid was laying in my big, messy fabric pile with this floral. So, I combined them and made this top. I think this is going to be great for work with a cardigan.

I am wearing my Glissando slacks with my Juliet top. I made this pair in testing. It still fits me, even though I’m a smaller size, so I’m pretty sure I did something wrong. I actually was testing the skirt, but really wanted to try them. Whatever the reason, I’m grateful they still fit, because I wear them constantly.

So this is just the plaid old solid yoke. It’s the one that I’m sure I’ll use the most, and maybe you can guess why. My favorite fabric company, Raspberry Creek Fabrics, has tons and tons of beautiful fabric collections. This pattern is going to be perfect for me to use the coordinating prints together.

This Geometric Arrow print just came out last week. I ordered it from the summer collection the first day that I could. Strangely enough, I already bought the print in cotton spandex jersey knit. But the colors are a bit different, so no one will notice. And I am okay if they do. I paired it with the Geometric Diamond print, that I wasn’t so sure about. I knew I’d love it once it arrived. And the coral color is so, so beautiful.

I’m going to leave you with a bit of a photo dump of all the photos. I try to take them in a few different environments, so you can really see the fabric and pattern details, but don’t want to overload folks. So, you are very welcome to browse the photos or say goodbye here. As always, please feel free to friend me on Facebook or follow me on Instagram. You can send me any questions you have or just drop me a note to chat.
